California Lawmakers Recognize Dean Johnson's Service

On Aug. 28, outgoing UC Davis Law Dean Kevin R. Johnson was honored with a joint resolution from California Senator Bill Dodd and Assembly Majority Leader Cecilia Aguiar-Curry. 

The resolution recognizes Johnson's extraordinary three terms and 16 years of service as dean. The longest-serving dean in the law school’s history, Johnson led UC Davis Law from 2008-2024. During that time, the law school has drawn accolades for its scholarly excellence, rare majority-minority faculty, groundbreaking Racial Justice Speaker Series and overall focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. Kevin R. Johnson is Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and professor of Chicana/o studies at UC Davis. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
