Bee Quotes Dean Johnson, Marcus Tang '14 on Migrants Sent to Sacramento
Dean Kevin R. Johnson and UC Davis Law alumnus Marcus Tang ’14 spoke to the Sacramento Bee on July 26 about legal barriers to U.S. employment for the asylum seekers who arrived in Sacramento in early June.
The migrants arrived unannounced via two chartered flights under Florida Gov. and 2024 GOP presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis’ controversial relocation program. Tang and other King Hall alumni have played key roles in assisting the asylum seekers.
Kevin R. Johnson is the law school’s dean, Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and professor of Chicana/o studies at UC Davis. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
