Asian Law Caucus Honors Bill Tamayo '78

Immigrant rights advocate, Bill Tamayo '78, will be honored by the Asian Law Caucus at its annual dinner in San Francisco on April 18, 2008.  In 1995, Tamayo was appointed as the regional attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in San Francisco. He currently directs the Commission's litigation and legal program in Northern California, Northern Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho, and Montana.  From 1979-95, Tamayo served as staff attorney and managing attorney for the Asian Law Caucus, Inc., where he specialized in the practice of immigration and nationality law and civil rights litigation and advocacy involving employment discrimination, affirmative action, immigrant rights, voting rights, and the Census.  Tamayo has received numerous awards for his public-spirited lawyering.
