Ariahna Sanchez '20 awarded prestigious MALDEF scholarship

Ariahna Sanchez ’20 has been awarded a prestigious Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund scholarship.

The civil rights organization awards scholarships to law students who plan to advance MALDEF’s mission of promoting and protecting the civil rights of the Latinx community in the United States. Each year, MALDEF asks a national law school scholarship committee of leading attorneys to help select scholarship recipients.

Sanchez is one of 15 law students from around the country to be awarded the scholarship this year. They include students from Harvard, Yale, Columbia and all the other UC law schools.

While at King Hall, Sanchez has served as a student counselor for the Workers’ Rights Clinic, Wage Claim Clinic, Immigration Law Clinic and the student-led Gender & Name Change Project. In 2018, Sanchez was awarded a summer fellowship from the California Lawyers Association Environmental Law Section.
