Alum Daniel Discusses Solar Financing with New York Times

Christine Daniel '89 was interviewed for a September 18, 2008, The New York Times article regarding the City of Berkeley's program for facilitating loans to homeowners who wish to purchase solar panels. In the article, Daniel, a deputy city manager working on the loan plan, noted that the program is designed to attract homeowners who would like to invest in helpful solar technology, but worry that their up-front investment will not be returned if they leave their home down the road. Daniel explained that the City would recoup its loan costs over 20 years through property taxes and interest. The plan was unanimously approved by the Berkeley City Council on September 23.
