Ali-Karamali '89 Speaks on Islam on SF Commonwealth Club
Sumbul Ali-Karamali '89 delivered a presentation on the status of women in Islam entitled "The Muslim Next Door" at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco on October 30. Ali-Karamali also had two articles published recently in the online journal the Huffington Post on subjects related to the upcoming presidential election, "Obama is Not a Muslim (But Would It Be So Terrible if He Were?" on August 20 and "Joe Hussein the Plumber" on October 21.
Sumbul Ali-Karamali received her J.D. degree from King Hall in 1989 and her L.L.M. in Islamic Law from the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies. She is the author of The Muslim Next Door: The Qur'an, the Media, and that Veil Thing.
