Hironobu Kumoto (LLM '25 | Japan)

Transcript

My name is Hironobu Kumoto. I'm from Tokyo, and I have been a Japanese lawyer since 2016.

Why did you choose to pursue an LL.M. degree?

In my legal firm, there is a set of international law matters. So there, I have to cooperate with U.S lawyers. So I want to know the common sense of the U.S lawyer.

Why did you choose to come to UC Davis School of Law?

Because I want to take my family to the United States. I have to choose a very safe place. Davis is very good for my family.

What is it like having your family here with you during the program?

For me, of course, spending time with my family...That's my happiness. And also, I think what is most beneficial is, that I can provide my children with an English education.

How is your family adjusting to the transition here?

I think they are getting used to this new environment. As I said, the U.C.D. faculty always supports my family. And, we can know the necessary information as we adjust to this new environment. This helps make families very comfortable here.
