Professor Johnson Writes About Top Immigration Story of 2025

On Dec. 8, Professor Kevin R. Johnson published "Top Immigration Story of 2025: The First Year Immigration Agenda of President Trump's Second Term," on the ImmigrationProf Blog.

"In the end, the immigration story of the year is President Donald Trump. His aggressive immigration agenda kicking off his second term is not like anything the nation has seen in modern U.S. history – and maybe ever in U.S. history," Johnson said. "Indeed, I think that this President's immigration actions rival those of Congress of 1882, which passed the Chinese Exclusion Act."

Kevin R. Johnson is a distinguished professor of law, Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law. Johnson is the director of the Aoki Center for Critical Race and Nation Studies and also has an appointment as professor of Chicana/o studies at UC Davis.
