Professor Johnson Weighs in on Arrest of Reported Immigration Agent
Professor Kevin R. Johnson spoke to NPR station KVCR for a report on the arrest of an alleged federal immigration agent who pulled a gun on a 17-year-old boy in Riverside County. Johnson called the arrest “extraordinary.”
“It’s really rare for a state prosecutor's office or a county prosecutor's office to bring these kinds of charges against a federal law enforcement officer,” Johnson told KVCR. “And I assume at some point, there'll be efforts to dismiss it before there's any plea.”
Kevin R. Johnson is a distinguished professor of law, Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law. Johnson is the director of the Aoki Center for Critical Race and Nation Studies and also has an appointment as professor of Chicana/o studies at UC Davis.
