Professor Johnson to Serve on AALS Scholarly Papers Committee

Professor Emeritus Kevin R. Johnson will join the AALS's 2027 Scholarly Papers Committee. The committee members represent expertise in a broad range of subject areas and will evaluate submissions to the Scholarly Papers Competition that recognizes outstanding legal scholarship by junior faculty. The selected winners will be recognized at the 2027 AALS Annual Meeting. 

Kevin R. Johnson is a distinguished professor of law and Chicanx Studies emeritus and director of the Aoki Center. He is the former Mabie/Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and had a faculty appointment in the department of Chicana/o Studies at UC Davis. He served as dean of UC Davis Law from 2008 to 2024. Johnson is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law and civil rights.
