Hard Speech Decisions in an AI Age: Lessons Learned from Social Media Governance

Event Date

Location
King Hall, Room 1301

Who decides what can be said, and based on what principles? Society has struggled with these questions for millennia. This talk will consider some ideas for how we might approach hard speech decisions in an AI age, drawing on lessons learned from more recent experiments in social media governance.

Olivia Jackson is a principal at Jackson Hall Strategies, a boutique law firm focused on AI and social media stewardship and strategy. She previously served as the inaugural General Counsel for the Oversight Board, an innovative governance mechanism established by Meta. She holds degrees from Stanford Law School and Oxford University, and is admitted to practice in both New York and England & Wales.

Lunch will be provided.
