Dr. Ellie Fairbairn has been a scientist and educator at the UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory (BML) for over 20 years. Ellie received her B.A. in Biology from UC Santa Barbara, and her Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from UC Davis. Her research focused on the impacts of man-made chemical pollution on the embryos and larvae of marine invertebrates and fish. Her research includes examining well-known sources of pollution as well as new and emerging contaminants. Since 2021 she has been the Director of Education and Outreach Programs at BML; she coordinates education programs for curious students of all ages, including programs for undergraduates, high school students, and the public.
