Yuba Jail Holding Migrant Detainees is 'Horrible Idea,' Professor White Tells S.F. Chronicle
The San Francisco Chronicle quoted Professor Carter “Cappy” White in a Jan. 11 story about the Yuba County Jail once again incarcerating migrant detainees the federal government wants to deport.
“I think it’s a horrible idea for them to bring back ICE detainees,” White told the Chronicle.
White and the Civil Rights Clinic have represented jail detainees at Yuba County Jail, and White is part of the legal team monitoring the jail’s compliance with a court-ordered consent decree.
Carter "Cappy" White is the supervising attorney of the law school’s Civil Rights Clinic. He has been a trial and appellate lawyer for 35 years, emphasizing civil rights and the rights of incarcerated people. He has also taught courses in civil rights and pretrial skills.
