Water Law Symposium
This year, the UC Davis School of Law hosted the 2022 California Water Law Symposium on Water Law & Drought. The annual event, which was virtual the last two years, was held in person at King Hall. Students and faculty advisors from UC Davis, UC Berkeley, Golden Gate, Stanford, University of the Pacific – McGeorge, and the University of San Francisco put together a first rate group of water law panels.
I had the opportunity to welcome the group to the law school. Shortly after, Eileen Sobeck, Executive Director, California State Water Resources Control Board, delivered the keynote address. Sobeck has nearly 40 years of government service and more than two decades of executive and management experience leading professional staff in complex organizations.
She is currently the Executive Director of the California State Water Resources Control Board, a position she has held since September 2017. Previously, she had experience with several federal agencies with missions that touch on many of the same science-based, public resource challenges the State Water Board faces.
Water is a critical issue as the state and nation deal with a prolonged drought. We all should be pleased that UC Davis could help facilitate a discussion on the topic.
