USA Today Article on Prescription Drugs Cites Professor Johns' Paper

A recent article in USA Today on "off-label" prescriptions-the practice of prescribing drugs to treat conditions for which they're not approved-referenced a paper published by UC Davis School of Law Professor Margaret Johns and UC Davis Professor of Medicine Michael Wilkes.  Their article, "Informed Consent and Shared Decision-Making: A Requirement to Disclose to Patient's Off-Label Prescriptions," appeared in PLoS Medicine, a peer-reviewed journal published by the Public Library of Science, and called for doctors always to inform patients when they want to prescribe an off-label drug and to prescribe them only with the patient's consent.

Margaret Johns is a Professor with the UC Davis School of Law with a special interest in torts and civil rights.
