UC Davis School of Law rises to No. 31 in national U.S. News rankings

UC Davis School of Law moved up to No. 31 in U.S. News and World Report’s annual rankings of nearly 200 American Bar Association-approved law schools.

The rankings appear in the just-released 2020 edition of U.S. News’ “Best Grad Schools.” Davis rose six places from the previous year.

“Our faculty and students can take pride in knowing that they are being recognized on a national and international level for their outstanding work,” UC Davis School of Law Dean Kevin R. Johnson said.

UC Davis Law’s continual placement near the top of prominent surveys such as the U.S. News rankings and Professor Brian Leiter’s “Scholarly Impact” list attests to a tradition of distinction.  The latest U.S. News survey ranks Davis at No. 26 in peer reputation.

Johnson said that “King Hall’s faculty and students consistently demonstrate excellence, and recent years have brought a growing awareness of their accomplishments.”

Davis was ranked in a number of specialty areas in the U.S. New survey: Dispute Resolution, Environmental Law, International Law, Trial Advocacy, Intellectual Property, Tax Law and Clinical Training.

Davis made the top 20 on U.S. News’ “Law School Diversity Index.”  National Jurist recently ranked UC Davis No. 2 on its list of most diverse law schools. The Princeton Review placed King Hall on its top-10 lists for resources for minority students and women, and for faculty diversity.

U.S. News ranks UC Davis Law No. 4 among the nation’s public law schools in generosity of financial aid. Davis leads all California law schools in percentage (92.4) of students who receive grants.
