UC Davis School of Law Home Page Ranks High in Georgetown Study

The home page of the UC Davis School of Law website, http://www.law.ucdavis.edu, ranks 16th in a Georgetown University study of the home pages of the 195 law schools accredited by the American Bar Association.

In a paper entitled "Top 10 Law School Home Pages of 2009," Associate Law Librarian Roger V. Skalbeck of Georgetown Law Center analyzed law school home pages according to 14 objective design criteria, including the presence of a search box, social media links, and news headlines.

In his paper, Skalbeck writes, "The website home page represents the virtual front door for any law school. It's the place many prospective students start in the application process. Enrolled students, law school faculty and other employees often start with the home page to find classes, curricula and compensation plans... This brief ranking report attempts to identify the best law school home pages based entirely on objective criteria. The goal was to include elements that make websites easier to use for sighted as well as visually impaired users."

The UC Davis School of Law home page is overseen by the school's Department of Marketing and Public Relations and Department of Information Technology.
