UC Davis Law Students Present Civil Rights Case to Ninth Circuit

Two students from the UC Davis Law Civil Rights Clinic presented oral argument before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco on April 12. Wesley Cheung ’18 and Megan McMahon ’18 represented the appellant in Kimbro v. Miranda, an appeal by a state prisoner in a civil rights case. The case involves multiple issues including officer excessive force, supervisory liability, exhaustion of administrative remedies, and exclusion of evidence at trial. Cheung and McMahon, along with Kritika Thukral ’18, co-authored the appellate briefs in the case. Carter White, director of the UC Davis Law Civil Rights Clinic, is supervisor to the students.
