UC Davis Law hosts esteemed Chilean prosecutor Raúl A. Guzmán Uribe

This spring semester, UC Davis School of Law welcomed Raúl A. Guzmán Uribe, District Prosecutor in the Fourth Zone of Santiago, Chile.

Guzmán oversees an office of nearly 400 lawyers and administrative staff who complete 130,000 investigations per year across all areas of criminal law for the Fourth Zone of Santiago (a population of 1.8 million people). He directs all investigations for his zone, and consults directly on the most sensitive cases, including drug-trafficking and domestic-violence cases. He is the terrorism prosecutor for all four zones that comprise Santiago, Chile’s capital city.

During his visit to UC Davis, Guzmán studied legal ethics in public law practice with Professor Gabriel “Jack” Chin, legal ethics in corporate law practice with Professor Dennis Ventry, immigration issues with Professor Edward Imwinkelried, juvenile justice issues with Donna Petre, and more. His research at UC Davis will impact his work by helping him to move forward new and/or improved legal integrity policies in Chile.
