Tech website Ars Technica quotes Professor Anupam Chander about carmaker Tesla's controversial "Autopilot" system

Professor Anupam Chander was quoted in an April 17 Ars Technica story reporting that electric carmaker Tesla has sent out conflicting messages about the capabilities of its current “Autopilot” system.

A Tesla driver killed in March in Mountain View had engaged Autopilot before the crash. Although Tesla has stressed that drivers must maintain full control of their cars while in Autopilot mode currently still in the driver-assistance stage, Ars Technica pointed out that a headline on Tesla’s website brags of “full self-driving hardware on all cars.”

Professor Chander called the mixed messages “unbelievably irresponsible.”
