Students assisted with policy briefs published on behalf of rural task force

Two policy briefs written on behalf of the California Commission on Access to Justice and its Rural Task Force, titled California’s Attorney Deserts: Access to Justice Implications of the Rural Lawyer Shortage (2019) and Disasters in Rural California: The Impact on Access to Justice (2019), have been published on the California State Bar website.

Professor Lisa Pruitt chairs the task force with Salena G. Copeland, co-chair of the Legal Aid Association of California. UC Davis law students Jaclyn Feenstra Kawagoe ’20, Alison Corn ’20, Amelia Evard ’21 and Diana Flores ’21 helped research and draft the briefs.

Lisa R. Pruitt, Martin Luther King, Jr. professor at UC Davis School of Law, is a scholar whose recent work explores the legal relevance of rural spatiality, including how it inflects dimensions of gender, race, and ethnicity.  Pruitt's work also considers rural-urban difference in transnational and international contexts.
