Research by Professor Chander, Uyen Le '11 Cited by Reuters
Research by Professor Anupam Chander and Uyen Le '11 is cited in an opinion piece by Mark Leonard that was published by Reuters on July 30. The piece was also republished by the European Council on Foreign Relations.
In the article, Leonard writes that in the global economy, "deep interdependence has not ended conflict between great powers -- it has merely provided a new battlefield for it." He quotes from Chander and Le's paper "Breaking the Web: Data Localization vs. the Global Internet" to support the idea that governments are increasingly attempting to restrict the flow of international data, often in an attempt to improve security.
Professor Anupam Chander is a leading scholar in the law of globalization and digitization, and has written widely on international law and cyber law. He is also Director of the California International Law Center (CILC) at King Hall. Uyen Le '11 is CILC's Free Speech and Technology Fellow.
