Pruitt's Research Papers on SSRN's Top Download List
The Social Science Research Network (SSRN) listed two papers authored by Professor of Law Lisa R. Pruitt on their Top Ten downloads lists. "No Black Names on the Letterhead? Efficient Discrimination and the South African Legal Profession" was listed in December 2006, for number of download from the UC Davis School of Law Legal Studies Research Paper Series. Also in December, "Toward a Feminist Theory of the Rural" was listed for number of downloads for Women, Gender & the Law.
Pruitts special interests include feminist jurisprudence, the legal profession, and torts. A common theme of her research interests is how law and legal institutions manage and respond to cultural difference and cultural change. In her international postings before coming to UC Davis, Pruitt negotiated such cultural conflicts in several arenas: assisting in the adjudication of claims arising from the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran; investigating sexual assaults as war crimes in Rwanda; discussing intellectual property rights with government officials from Azerbaijan to Zimbabwe; and studying the racial integration of the legal profession in post-apartheid South Africa.
SSRN is devoted to the rapid worldwide dissemination of social science research and is composed of a number of specialized research networks in each of the social sciences, including the Legal Scholarship Network which publishes the UC Davis School of Law Legal Studies Research Paper Series.
