Professors Ikemoto, Ziegler Address Reproductive Rights in UC Davis Forum

On July 15, Professors Lisa Ikemoto and Mary Ziegler joined UC Davis School of Medicine Professor Mitchell Creinin, Chicana/o Studies Professor Natalia Deeb-Sossa and Mathematics Professor and Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Research Director Thomas Strohmer, along with Access Reproductive Justice Executive Director Jessica Pinckney Gil, for the UC Davis Office of Research’s Team Research Forum on Reproductive Rights and Health.

The discussion highlighted research activity in this area across our campus, including, but not limited to, law, gender studies, economics, health care, political science, and religious studies. In doing so, this event will provide our campus community with fact-based research and information on the near- and long-term impacts of this significant legal decision.

Lisa Ikemoto, Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law at UC Davis School of Law, has written extensively on genetic and reproductive technology, the regulation of fertility and pregnancy, and race and gender disparities in health care. Her current work examines emerging issues in regenerative medicine, including stem cell research, and the human tissues market.

Mary Ziegler is an expert on the law, history, and politics of reproduction, health care, and conservatism in the United States from 1945 to the present. She is one of the world’s leading historians of the U.S. abortion debate.
