Professors Frank, Florey Comment on Judge Fletcher for Daily Journal Profile

Professor Katherine Florey and Professor of Environmental Practice Richard Frank contributed comments for a Daily Journal profile of U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit Judge William A. Fletcher. 

Frank, a leader in the field of environmental law and the founding Director of the California Environmental Law and Policy Center at UC Davis School of Law, spoke to Judge Fletcher's record with regard to environmental cases.  "He's been quite influential in the circuit's environmental jurisprudence," said Frank, citing a string of cases involving the National Environmental Policy Act and the Environmental Protection Agency. 

Florey offered a personal anecdote about clerking for Judge Fletcher.  "We clerks noticed that other judges on panels made a big deal out of having bottles of water arranged just so at their places on the bench, so one day we snuck in front of Judge Fletcher's place bottles of V-8, orange juice, San Pellegrino, and Fiji water," she said. "But our prank kind of fizzled, because even though the other judges looked puzzled at our display, Judge Fletcher was oblivious to all but the argument."
