Professors Dodge, Chin recognized for individual 'scholarly impact'

UC Davis School of Law’s faculty finished at No. 23, collectively, when University of Chicago Professor Brian Leiter released his influential “scholarly impact” list on his blog last month. Now Leiter is rolling out lists of most-cited individual professors. UC Davis is showing up on those as well.

Professor William S. Dodge landed at No. 18 on Leiter’s list of most-cited international law and security scholars, and Leiter included Professor Gabriel “Jack” Chin in a postscript to his list of most-cited professors in criminal law and procedure - as one of five “other highly cited scholars who work partly in this area.”

Professor Dodge, Martin Luther King, Jr. professor of law at UC Davis School of Law, is an influential international law scholar. He serves as a co-reporter for the American Law Institute's Restatement (Fourth) of Foreign Relations Law: Jurisdiction and as a member of the State Department's Advisory Committee on International Law. He is a co-author of the casebook Transnational Business Problems and a co-editor of International Law in the U.S. Supreme Court: Continuity and Change, which won the American Society of International Law's 2012 certificate of merit. He has authored more than 50 other publications in books and law reviews.

Gabriel "Jack" Chin is Martin Luther King, Jr. professor of law and holder of the Edward L. Barrett, Jr. Endowed Chair at UC Davis School of Law. He is a prolific and much-cited criminal and immigration law scholar whose work has addressed many of the most pressing social issues of our time.
