Professors Chin and Villazor Present at National Asian Pacific American Bar Association Convention
Professor Gabriel "Jack" Chin moderated a plenary panel and Professor Rose Cuison Villazor was a panelist at the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) 2014 Annual Convention held in Scottsdale, Arizona on November 6-9.
The panelists in Professor Chin's discussion included Amy Nice of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Ali Noorani, Executive Director of the National Immigration Forum, ACLU attorney Jennifer Chang Newell, and Professor Jan Ting of Temple University School of Law. Professor Chin introduced the panel with a discussion of historical discrimination against Asian Pacific Americans in the area of immigration and citizenship.
Professor Villazor was a panelist for a discussion titled, "Coming Out of the (Immigration) Closet: Perspectives from DREAMers and the LGBT Community." Villazor discussed the background of the undocumented immigrant social justice movement, presenting her research and law review article "The Undocumented Closet."
Gabriel "Jack" Chin, who joined the King Hall faculty in 2011, is a prolific and much-cited criminal and immigration law scholar whose work has addressed many of the most pressing social issues of our time. Professor Rose Cuison Villazor teaches and writes in the areas of property law, immigration law, race, and citizenship.
