Professor Ziegler Talks to Guardian, KQED About Abortion-Related State Initiatives

Professor Mary Ziegler, a leading expert on the history of the U.S. abortion debate, spoke to The Guardian on Oct. 7 about a Montana ballot initiative that aims, Ziegler says, to remove abortion rights from the state constitution incrementally.

Ziegler talked to KQED for an Oct. 4 report on California’s abortion rights-protecting Proposition 1 and the controversial concept of “fetal viability.”

Mary Ziegler is an expert on the law, history, and politics of reproduction, health care, and conservatism in the United States from 1945 to the present. She is one of the world’s leading historians of the U.S. abortion debate.
