In N.Y. Times and New Yorker, Professor Ziegler Illuminates Aspects of Abortion Rights Fight

Professor Mary Ziegler, a leading expert on the history of the U.S. abortion debate, provided context to national media outlets last week about various aspects of the fight for abortion rights post-Roe v. Wade.

Ziegler spoke to the New Yorker for an Oct. 10 story headlined “The Post-Roe Abortion Underground,” about a network of activists who are getting abortion pills from Mexico into the United States.

On Oct. 13, Ziegler spoke to the New York Times for a story on how some couples are using wedding registries to fund-raise for abortion rights.

Ziegler spoke to PolitiFact on Oct. 14 for a report assessing the veracity of claims by Democrats that some Republican Senate candidates back “no exceptions” abortion bans.

Mary Ziegler is an expert on the law, history, and politics of reproduction, health care, and conservatism in the United States from 1945 to the present. She is one of the world’s leading historians of the U.S. abortion debate.
