Professor West Comments for Sacramento Bee on Proposed Employment Law
Professor Emerita Martha S. West commented for the Sacramento Bee on AB 1450, on a California Assembly bill that would bar employers from including current or recent employment as an eligibility requirement in job listings. Professor West said that companies that exclude applicants on the basis of employment status could be susceptible to lawsuits alleging discrimination against people of color, who have significantly higher unemployment rates than whites.
Professor West taught courses on Employment Discrimination, Labor Law, and Sex-based Discrimination at UC Davis School of Law. Her research has focused on discrimination against women faculty in higher education.
