Professor West Comments on Picketers for Davis Enterprise

Professor Martha S. West commented for the Davis Enterprise on the series of demonstrations using picket signs that were seen recently in Davis.  In recent weeks, the city has seen picketers associated with a one-day California Nurses Association strike, protestors demonstrating near the site of the Mori Seki tool manufacturing facility, and a one-woman protest in front of Davis Healthcare Center.  Professor West discussed picketing as a traditional tool of organized labor, the history of legal restrictions on picketing, and the decline of union membership and influence.

Professor West taught courses on Employment Discrimination, Labor Law, and Sex-based Discrimination at UC Davis School of Law. Her research has focused on discrimination against women faculty in higher education.
