Professor Villazor’s Scholarship Featured in Re-enactment of Historic Citizenship Case

Professor Rose Cuison Villazor’s article “Rediscovering Oyama v. California: At the Intersection of Property, Race and Citizenship” was featured in a re-enactment of the case at the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA)'s annual conference in San Diego on November 4.

The re-enactment, which was organized by Judge Denny Chin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and Kathy Chin, a partner at Cadwalader, and the Asian American Bar Association of New York (AABANY), highlighted the unique experience of racial exclusion from property that Japanese and Japanese Americans faced under California's Alien Land Law. Professor Villazor participated in the Q & A after the presentation.

Professor Rose Cuison Villazor joined the UC Davis faculty in 2012 from the Maurice A. Deane Law School at Hofstra University.  She has also taught at Columbia Law School and the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.  Professor Villazor teaches and writes in the areas of property law, immigration law, race, and citizenship.
