Professor Villazor Comments on Same-sex Marriage in U.S. Territories for Daily Telegraph
Professor Rose Cuison Villazor commented for the Daily Telegraph of Sydney, Australia on American Samoa and the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage. Samoa is the only U.S. territory holding out against the decision that upheld the right of same-sex couples to wed. Professor Villazor, an expert on territorial law, said the ruling should go into effect immediately.
"It should be unquestioned," Professor Villazor said. "The Supreme Court's decision was pretty strong."
Professor Rose Cuison Villazor joined the UC Davis faculty in 2012 from the Maurice A. Deane Law School at Hofstra University. She has also taught at Columbia Law School and the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. Professor Villazor teaches and writes in the areas of property law, immigration law, race, and citizenship.
