Professor Ventry Talks on Tax Policy at International Conference

UC Davis School of Law Professor Dennis J. Ventry, Jr., spoke at the RESULTS/ RESULTS Educational Fund International Conference on July 13 in Washington, D.C. Ventry's talk, "Tax Policy as Social Policy," examined the use of the tax code, both historically and modernly, as a delivery mechanism for social welfare benefits. In particular, he discussed the economic and social effects of tax credits, marriage penalties and bonuses, and the tax reform platforms of presidential hopefuls, Senators Obama and McCain.

Ventry is an expert in tax policy, and has written many articles and books on the subject. His special interests include family taxation, legal ethics and professional standards, tax history, tax compliance and administration, and public finance.

RESULTS is a grassroots nonprofit organization striving to eradicate hunger and poverty around the world. Its annual conference brings together advocates from around the country, as well as public policy and welfare scholars.
