Professor Ventry to Speak on Mortgage Deduction for IGA Seminar Series

Professor Dennis J. Ventry, Jr., will speak on the home-mortgage interest tax deduction in the next installment of the UC Davis Institute of Governmental Affairs (IGA) Policy Watch Seminar Series.  The lecture will begin shortly after noon on March 31 in the IGA Reading Room in the Shields Library. 

Professor Ventry's address will bear the same title as his recently published paper, "The Accidental Deduction: A History and Critique of the Tax Subsidy for Mortgage Interest," which has drawn interest from National Public Radio and other media.

Professor Ventry is an expert in tax policy and has written widely in the field. His research interests include family taxation, tax expenditure analysis, legal ethics and professional standards, tax and legal history, tax compliance and administration, and public finance.
