Professor Ventry Comments on Free Tax Prep Program for KPBS

Professor Dennis Ventry commented for San Diego PBS member station KPBS on the Free Tax Prep San Diego program, which seeks to raise awareness of the state and federal earned income tax credits and expand the number of locations where free filing services are available.

Professor Ventry said the program's free tax filing support could help save low-income families from scams. "They get defrauded at very high rates," said Ventry.

Professor Ventry is an expert in tax policy and legal ethics. His research interests include tax expenditure analysis, family taxation, professional responsibility and standards of care, tax filing and administration, tax compliance, public finance, and tax and legal history. In addition, he is Chairman of the IRS Advisory Council, and co-author on the casebook, Federal Income Taxation with Martin McMahon, Jr., Daniel L. Simmons, and Bradley T. Borden.
