Professor Sunder Presents at Intellectual Property Law Conference in Hong Kong

On June 10 and 11, Professor Madhavi Sunder gave presentations at the Value Pluralism and Intellectual Property Law conference held at the University of Hong Kong. The conference, the first of its kind, was jointly sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania School of Law and the University of Hong Kong School of Law.

Professor Sunder spoke about the need to think about broad humanitarian values when doing intellectual property law and theory, including but going beyond the value of efficiency alone. Professor Sunder argued that the human capabilities approach developed by legal scholars Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum has a particularly good fit for intellectual property, which governs our ability to use and enjoy culture, from music and art to science.

Madhavi Sunder is a Professor of Law at King Hall whose special interests included intellectual property, law and culture studies, women's rights, and international intellectual property.
