Professor Soucek speaks at Conference of Chief District Judges

On Feb. 6, Professor Brian Soucek gave a talk on the history of asylum and refugee law in the U.S. to the annual Ninth Circuit Conference of Chief District Judges and Lawyer Representatives at the Richard H. Chambers Courthouse in Pasadena.

Among those attending were Tom Phinney, King Hall Class of 1991, and King Hall parent Ramona Villagomez Manglona, chief judge of the District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands.

Professor Soucek’s primary teaching and research interests are anti-discrimination law, civil procedure, constitutional law, and refugee/asylum law. He holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and a Ph.D from Columbia University. He has clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Mark R. Kravitz in Connecticut, and Judge Guido Calabresi of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
