Professor Simmons Speaks on Tax Panels in Texas, Bay Area

Professor Daniel L. Simmons presented "Recent Developments in Federal Income Taxation: 2007" on November 5 at the University of Texas Tax Institute in Austin, Texas.  Professor Simmons was joined in the presentation by his long-time colleague and "Recent Developments" co-author Professor Ira Shepard of the University of Houston Law Center.  The paper is published in the Florida Tax Review.

Professor Simmons also discussed the economic substance doctrine and abusive tax shelters on a panel at the California State Bar Tax Policy Conference as part of the annual meeting of the California State Bar Tax Section in San Francisco on November 7.  Professor Simmons was joined on the panel by Professor Michael Lang from the Chapman University School of Law and Joshua Odintz, Tax Counsel (Majority), U.S. Senate Finance Committee.

Daniel L. Simmons is a UC Davis Professor of Law and a national expert on tax law, with an emphasis on corporate and partnership taxation.
