Professor Simmons Discusses WWII Internees' Honorary Degrees on Insight
Professor Daniel L. Simmons discussed the UC Regents' recent decision to grant honorary degrees to the approximately 700 Japanese-Americans who left their studies at the University of California when they were forced into internment camps during World War II on Insight, a talk show on local National Public Radio affiliate KXJZ. The Regents' action was prompted by the recommendation of a task force co-chaired by Professor Simmons and University Vice President Judy Sakaki.
