Professor Shanske Speaks at University of California Center Sacramento

Professor Darien Shanske, together with UC Berkeley School of Law Professor David Gamage, gave a talk on "Improving California's Tax System through Increasing Diversity and Complementarity of Its Revenue Streams" at the University of California Center Sacramento on April 7.

In their presentation, they outlined an argument for why states (and local governments) should rely upon a variety of revenue instruments and, more specifically, a wider variety than are currently used in California. Professors Shankse and Gamage received Honorable Mention for their research in this area as part of the Bacon Public Lectureship and White Paper Competition 2015-2016.

Darien Shanske is a Professor of Law at UC Davis. His academic interests include taxation, particularly state and local taxation, local government law, public finance, and political theory, particularly jurisprudence.
