Professor Patel Presents Paper on Cryptomarket Fraud at UC Irvine, Penn

Professor Menesh Patel recently presented his paper, “Fraud on the Cryptomarket,” at the University of California, Irvine and virtually at the University of Pennsylvania.

The paper evaluates whether and under what conditions the Fraud on the Market doctrine is available to defrauded traders in securities or commodities class actions involving an exchange-traded cryptoasset. King Hall students Lily Lequang ‘22, Tony Mekari ‘22, and Ashraf Sabbah ’23 provided research assistance in connection with the paper, which is forthcoming in the Harvard Journal of Law and Technology.

Professor Menesh Patel joined the UC Davis faculty in 2018. His primary research interests include antitrust, corporate law, securities regulation, and capital markets. Before UC Davis, he was a fellow at Columbia Law School and Columbia Business School and practiced law at Sidley Austin LLP.
