Professor Lee Talks to 'Marketplace,' Cited by Slate on Silicon Valley Bank and VC World

Professor Peter Lee appeared on the March 16 episode of American Public Media’s Marketplace program. Lee spoke to host Kai Ryssdal about the failure of Silicon Valley Bank and the role of venture capital culture in its demise.

A March 13 Slate article on SVB’s collapse cited Lee’s scholarship on the venture capital industry. Slate cited “Enhancing the Innovative Capacity of Venture Capital” (Yale Journal of Law & Technology, 2022), which explores structural features that limit the ability of venture capital to fund broad swaths of socially valuable innovations.

Peter Lee teaches and writes in the field of intellectual property law, particularly focusing on patent law, innovation, and technology transfer. He founded and directs UC Davis Law’s Center for Innovation, Law, and Society.
