Professor Lee Comments on Apple Patent Dispute for Fox 2 KTVU
Professor Peter Lee recently appeared on Bay Area television station Fox 2 KTVU to comment on a patent dispute between Apple and medical device manufacturer Masimo.
In October, the International Trade Commission ruled that two models of Apple Watches infringed patents held by Masimo on blood oxygen sensor technology. As Lee explained, the ITC’s ruling commenced a 60-day period in which the White House could overrule the commission. With that 60-day period set to expire on Dec. 25, Apple will soon pull certain models of Apple Watches from its online and physical stores.
Peter Lee teaches and writes in the field of intellectual property law, particularly focusing on patent law, innovation, and technology transfer. He founded and directs UC Davis Law’s Center for Innovation, Law, and Society.
