Professor Larson cited in Seventh Circuit case tied to Second Amendment

Professor Carlton F.W. Larson was cited in a United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit opinion in a Second Amendment case. In Kanter v. Barr, the court affirmed a lower court’s dismissal of a convicted felon’s claim that banning him from owning a firearm is unconstitutional.

The opinion cited Larson’s article “Four Exceptions in Search of a Theory: District of Columbia v. Heller and Judicial Ipse Dixit.” (Hastings Law Journal, 2009).”

Carlton Larson's research interests focus on constitutional law and legal history, with a strong emphasis on the 18th century. Professor Larson is one of the nation’s leading authorities on the law of treason and is the author of the forthcoming book The Trials of Allegiance: Treason, Juries, and the American Revolution (Oxford University Press).
