Professor Joslin Co-authors Amicus in Adar v. Smith

Professor Courtney Joslin participated in drafting an amicus curiae brief, urging the United States Supreme Court to grant a petition for a writ of certiorari in Adar v. Smith. The case challenges the refusal of the Louisiana State Registrar to issue a revised, accurate birth certificate for a Louisiana-born child who was adopted in New York by an unmarried couple. The amicus brief argues that this refusal conflicts with the Equal Protection Clause and Full Faith and Credit Clause and should not be allowed to stand. The brief was filed on behalf of more than two dozen family law, constitutional law, and conflict of law professors, including Professor Joslin.
