Professor Jorjani Speaks on Immigration at Public Defender Convention
Professor Raha Jorjani spoke on "The Other Punishment: Immigration Consequences of Criminal Convictions" to public and private defense attorneys from all over California at the 41st Annual Convention of the California Public Defenders Association on May 14, 2010 in Palm Springs. Speaking with co-presenter Angie Junck, Staff Attorney at the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, Professor Jorjani covered topics including immigration consequences and the defense attorneys' duty to investigate and advise non-citizen defendants on immigration consequences as outlined in the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Padilla v. Kentucky.
Raha Jorjani is a staff attorney in the Immigration Law Clinic at the UC Davis School of Law with a special interest in advocacy on behalf of detained immigrants.
