Professor Jorjani Speaks on Detention at Miami Law Review Symposium

Professor Raha Jorjani was part of a panel discussion on "Procedural Safeguards: Due Process, Enhancing Judicial Review and Access to Legal Assistance" at the "U.S. Immigration Detention:  Policy and Procedure from a Human Rights Perspective" conference at St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami on November 6.  Professor Jorjani's remarks focused on federal regulations that authorize the Department of Homeland Security to unilaterally invoke a procedure that continues immigration detention despite a judicial order of release.  Professor Jorjani has been asked to submit a paper on the subject to The Intercultural Human Rights Law Review, which sponsored the conference.

Raha Jorjani is a staff attorney in the Immigration Law Clinic at the UC Davis School of Law with a special interest in advocacy on behalf of detained immigrants.
