Professor Joo's Essay Topic of Recent Blog Post

An essay by Professor Thomas W. Joo, "Yick Wo Re-Revisited: Nonblack Nonwhites and Fourteenth Amendment History," was featured on Legal History Blog on September 5, 2008. In the paper, Joo argued that the 1886 case of Yick Wo v. Hopkins is, despite some recent arguments to the contrary, in fact a race-based case because of the Supreme Court's use of the Fourteenth Amendment's Equal Protection Clause.

Joo, a professor at UC Davis School of Law, specializes in the areas of corporate governance and race and the law. His essay on the Yick Wo case will be published in the fall 2008 edition of the Illinois University Law Review.
