Professor Joh Cited in The Guardian
Research by Professor Elizabeth Joh is cited in a recent article in the British daily national newspaper The Guardian. The article concerns the use of "data-driven policing" by law enforcement in the United States and quotes from Professor Joh's "The New Surveillance Discretion: Automated Suspicion, Big Data, and Policing," published in the Harvard Law & Policy Review in 2016.
"Soon it will be feasible and affordable for the government to record, store, and analyze nearly everything we do," writes Joh. "The police will rely on alerts generated by computer programs that sift through the massive quantities of available information for patterns of suspicious activity."
Professor Joh's scholarship focuses on criminal procedure and policing, with a special emphasis on DNA evidence, undercover policing, and new surveillance technologies.
